It is that time of year! Dog days of Summer is the hottest part of the year.
Hot weather can be difficult with any type of equipment. Instability can result from unpredictability in humidity and temperature. A lens's average operating temperature range is between 32 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit (0-40 degrees Celsius). If your lenses or equipment are subjected to excessively high or low temperatures, or rapidly fluctuating temperatures, they may be affected. When exposed to such conditions, the materials in devices bend, allowing dust and water molecules to enter. Even the grease in your equipment's gears might melt and leak at a high temperature, producing complications.
Aside from physical harm, a hot day might impair the performance of your lens. Thermal rays can cause refraction and distortion for even the most expert operators. So let the temperature drop a bit and never leave your equipment in vehicle!
Despite the weather, we keep you shooting.
