What the heck is heat treating?

To those in the industry, that question is obvious. To just about everyone else, it's a valid question! We'll give you the short answer here.

Heat treating is a little known, but very important, step of almost every critical manufacturing supply chain. From jet engine components to vehicle transmission gears, to the feet of a step ladder, heat treating adds value to metal parts by improving their properties (such as hardness, strength or ductility) to last in the applications they are designed for.

Darby Metal Treating is pleased to announce the launch of our new website! We've been growing our capacity and the number of heat treating processes that we offer, and now we're growing our online presence.

The new site details all of the heat treating processes that we offer, gives some basic information about those processes, and the applications and specifications for each. You can also learn more about the great people who make up our company and the core values that we abide by. Last but certainly not least, it upgrades the ability to get in touch with us, which we would very much welcome!

Here we grow again! After just a year with our first atmosphere furnace, we are installing our second. This type of furnace performs oil quenching processes such as neutral hardening, carburizing and carbonitriding, among others. As you can see from the video, literal BIG things are happening at Darby Metal Treating. If you need a heat treater than can keep up with you, check us out!
