It’s the worst feeling in the world: your AC breaks down in the dead of summer, and the repair quote is enough to make you sweat even more. The biggest question we get from homeowners in this situation is, “Should I just fix it, or is it time to bite the bullet and replace the whole thing?”

We don’t want anyone to sell you on a brand-new system if you don’t actually need one. But we also don’t want you pouring thousands of dollars into a dying unit that’s just going to break again next month.

That’s why we’re giving you the exact tool we use to make the call: The $5,000 Rule Calculator.

It’s simple math that takes the emotion and the guesswork out of the decision:
Take the cost of the repair and multiply it by the age of your system.

If the result is less than $5,000, it usually makes financial sense to go ahead and repair it.
If the result is over $5,000, you are likely throwing good money after bad, and a new, energy-efficient install is the better long-term investment.

Example: A $1,200 repair on a 12-year-old system ($1,200 × 12 = $14,400). In this case, the math strongly leans toward replacement.

We built a free, interactive calculator right on our website so you can run your own numbers in seconds. We are here to give you the tools and the transparency you need to make the best, most informed decision for your home and your budget.

America's 250th — a note from our family to yours

Two hundred and fifty years. It's hard to even wrap your mind around it.

Teresa and I have been thinking about what this day means to us. We're a small family business in the greatest country in the world — a place where two people could start with a truck, a toolbox, and a promise to do right by folks, and twenty-two years later still be serving the same neighborhoods that took a chance on us back in 2004.

That's not something we take for granted. Not for one day.
So today, we're not thinking about air conditioners. We're thinking about the families behind every front door we've ever knocked on. The veterans on our routes and on our team. The neighbors who wave at our vans in Plano, Allen, Frisco, Fort Worth, and everywhere in between. You're the reason we get to do what we love.

From the Lazenby family and everyone at 1st Class Heat & Air — happy 250th birthday, America. Fly your flag, hug your people, and enjoy every minute of it.

And if your AC decides to sit this holiday out, don't you worry. We're here 7 days a week — yes, even today.

With gratitude,

New look. Same heart.

After 20+ years of serving DFW, we're investing back into the company you helped us build — better tools, better training, and a brand that finally matches the care we've been bringing to your door since 2004.

We built 1st Class on handshakes and word of mouth, not billboards. That's not changing. Same family. Same team. Same promise, 7 days a week.

It's a 98°F Plano afternoon and your AC just quit. Before you panic, run four quick checks — filter, breaker, outdoor unit, and clearance. Half of Plano summer calls resolve right there. If it's the real deal, Plano sits in our densest dispatch ring, so a truck is usually 15–25 minutes away, same-day in cooling season. First-time customer special web service call only $50.

AC not keeping up? Before you call anyone, check these 7 things first:
1️⃣ Thermostat settings — is it actually set to cool?
2️⃣ Air filter — a clogged filter kills airflow fast
3️⃣ Circuit breaker — your outdoor unit may have tripped it
4️⃣ Vents and registers — make sure none are blocked or closed
5️⃣ Outdoor unit — is it running? Is anything blocking it?
6️⃣ Condensate drain — a clogged drain can shut the whole system down
7️⃣ Ice buildup — a frozen coil means airflow or refrigerant issues

A lot of these have simple fixes you can handle yourself. We wrote up the full breakdown here so you know exactly what to look for: 👉 1stclassairservice.com/ac-not-cooling-what-to-check
