A deputy tried to stop a truck for a traffic violation about 8:10 p.m. yesterday near 69 Highway and N.E. 112th St. The truck took off south, eventually striking Stop Sticks placed by Liberty, Missouri Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol. Deputies followed, and they saw the driver throw something from the window on I-35. With mostly no tires, the truck came to a stop at the Kansas state line on Highway 635. Deputies took the driver into custody. He was wanted by the U.S. Marshals for illegal possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
K9 Freyja (in the picture below) and the Kearney Missouri Police Department K9 then went back and helped locate what the suspect had thrown on I-35 near 291 Highway. It was a bag containing numerous illegal pills packaged for individual sales. Keep in mind most of the pills we're recovering now contain fentanyl.
Great teamwork by all involved!
