When this homeowner’s well line broke outside the house, it quickly became an emergency; exactly the kind of situation our emergency service is here for. The damaged line forced slime, dirt, and water into the basement, creating a major mess and leaving the sump system unable to function properly.
Our on-call technician, DC, responded promptly and got to work diagnosing the issue. Once we assessed the situation, we found the sump pit had partially collapsed and the old pump was stuck inside the damaged basin.
Pictured is the step-by-step process of the repair. We removed the collapsed sump basin and installed a brand-new replacement. The new basin was properly backfilled with pea gravel, and fresh concrete was poured around the top for a clean and secure finish. Since there was no perimeter drain tile tied into into the pit, we created relief holes approximately 6" below the rim of the basin to allow groundwater to naturally flow into the pit.
To finish the repair, we installed a new sump pump and restored the system back to proper working order. Another emergency handled quickly and correctly to help protect this home from further water damage.
