When it comes to oil tanks, having access to the filter and tank isn’t just about making maintenance easier.

Filters need to be changed, and tanks and connections need to be inspected regularly. If part of the system is blocked off, a simple cleaning or inspection can become a much bigger job.

When planning an enclosure around your tank, make sure there’s room to service it, inspect it, and get to the filter when it needs changing.

Last Monday we gave you a peek at the box...big reveal! It was a new furnace.

What started as an annual tune-up turned into a full furnace replacement after we found a cracked heat exchanger. The old furnace is out, the new one is in, and this project is officially buttoned up and ready to go. The best part, this particular furnace can run the blower without running the heat, so if you just need a little extra airflow on those sticky summer days, this is a great option.

Another find that caught a problem before it became a bigger one.

A few months ago, we started this project by installing the gas furnace, running the new piping, and setting things up for a future cookstove.

Fast forward to today, the renovations are complete and we’re back to finish the job. Final fire on the furnace, thermostat installed, and the cookstove converted and hooked up.

It’s always pretty cool seeing the before and after come together.
