Great conversations. Shared goals. A stronger future for affordable housing.

We were proud to participate in the SCANPH Conference, connecting with industry leaders, developers, and organizations committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities across Southern California.

Representing WEST Builders, Mehmet Firat Cankiri, Dave de Jong, and Andrew Choe enjoyed the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and discuss how collaborative construction partnerships can help move housing developments forward.

Thank you to Southern California Association of NonProfit Housing (SCANPH) for bringing together the people and organizations working to address our region's housing needs.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and contributing to projects that create lasting value for our communities.

Demolition is now complete at our Berkeley project.
The demolition team is actively clearing the last of our basement demolition debris from the site. Concurrently, subgrade preparation and fine grading are underway across the basement floor in preparation for below-grade waterproofing and elevator pit installation. All construction activities are systematically sequenced to maintain strict safety standards and optimal operational efficiency.

Major milestones are coming together at 2403 San Pablo. The entrance mosaic tile is in place, both sidewalks have been poured, and the building is now energized. Our team is hot-checking units, while courtyard hardscape and landscaping move toward completion and installation of the newly delivered elevator and car stackers continues.

At 2918 Mission, the team is nearing completion of production pile work and moving into the next stage of below-grade construction. Temporary shoring will continue as mass excavation begins, advancing the site toward the foundation phase of this eight-story mixed-use project.

Three buildings. Multiple phases. One coordinated effort. At The Halstead, Building A is moving through concrete placement, Building B continues vertical framing, and rebar and MEP pe*******on work progresses at Building C. From above, you can see the scale of the work and the coordination driving progress across the entire site.

Some of the strongest teams are built in the moments between the work.

This August, the WEST Builders team stepped away from our projects and gathered in San Luis Obispo for our 2026 Summer Retreat, a weekend dedicated to connection, appreciation, and time together beyond the jobsite.

From a friendly golf tournament and family-style dinner to a Morro Bay brunch cruise, winery visits, and an evening together as a team, the weekend gave us an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the relationships that make WEST what it is.

As a 100% employee-owned company, we know that what we build together extends far beyond our projects. It’s the trust between colleagues, the experiences we share, and the culture we continue to strengthen year after year.

We returned to work with great memories, stronger connections, and an even greater appreciation for the people behind WEST Builders.

Here’s to the team that makes the work, and the journey, worthwhile.

Construction is underway at 2449 Dwight in Berkeley.

Before demolition can begin, the existing facade has to be secured. Our subcontractor, ShoreCal Engineering, has completed abatement and is now shoring the building along Dwight Way and Telegraph Avenue, drilling and setting piles that will connect to horizontal c-channels at each floor level.

It's not glamorous work, but it's what keeps the project, and everyone around it, safe as we move into the next phase.

Behind every milestone is a team that shows up and gets it done.

This video offers a look at our crew in action at The Halstead in Pasadena, currently placing concrete for Building B's podium level 2 while preparing Building A for MEP rough-in.

As a 100% employee-owned company, the people you see in this footage are not just executing a plan. They own the outcome. That is the difference between checking boxes and building something you are proud of.

Built in partnership with CFT, designed by Gensler, engineered by Englekirk/WSP.
