Your home may not have the appropriate or properly installed waterproofing. Even when installed properly, areas like decks require regular maintenance. Homes that are exposed to (especially salt) water and do not have the proper protection allowing moisture/water pe*******on, will end up with damage far beyond what is immediately visible. This is one of our recent projects and to the homeowner it appeared that the issue was just the deck- unfortunately, NOT! In fact, they hired someone in February where another contractor just did a small stucco patch without looking for the problem. This is what was behind the stucco. It required significant repairs in addition to replacement of structural beams. This is what holds up the floors above (3 story home) so you can't just ignore it! Please do regular maintenance and inspections and hopefully you can avoid ending up with issues like this. If you are noticing issues, please give us a call sooner rather than later.
