When flatwork involves compound slopes and curves, calculating concrete can get complicated.

With the Moasure 2 PRO, I can walk the perimeter, capture intermediate points and get a solid starting point for planning how much concrete to order.

Hardwired. Plugged in. Or powered by USB-C.

The Dial is a smart thermostat for the Quilt mini-split system, and the flexibility in how it gets power is something I haven’t seen before.

We’re hardwiring it on this project. For a retrofit, you could use the plug-in adapter—or power it from a USB-C PD receptacle like this one. That keeps both standard outlets available, leaves another USB-C connection open, and the screwless cover gives it a clean finish.

I'm currently putting the system through its paces. More to come.

Planning for solar doesn’t necessarily mean installing it today.

Here, we created a pathway from the electrical area into the attic so a future installation shouldn’t require opening finished walls.

Line sets are difficult to make attractive, but this helps.

The protects and seals the wall pe*******on while providing a much cleaner transition to the exterior line set. This retrofit version separates so it can be installed around lines that are already in place.

At least as nice as line sets can look.

Is your water crawling, or is it sprinting?

The Grundfos GO app shows this ALPHA HWR 15-55 recirculation pump moving water at about 1.2 gallons per minute. Depending on the pipe size, that can translate to a water velocity of less than one mile per hour.

Exterior finishes can’t feel like an afterthought.

On this custom spec home, we used Dovetail for the body, Sherwin-Williams Creamy for the trim, and the Versetta Stone Ledgestone profile in Sterling to help anchor the elevation.

Versetta Stone is a stone siding product — mortarless, mechanically fastened, and something our crew was able to install in-house. For this project, it helped bring the exterior package together while still keeping the install practical from a builder’s standpoint.

I build houses for a living…but my wife is the real puzzler in this family.

sent us this Luminous Zeppelin, and I figure, how hard could a wooden model kit be?

Turns out, building houses and solving puzzles are not exactly the same skill set.

Fortunately, I had supervision.
