ASD 2024 PART TWO COMING SOON
November 3rd through November 13th, 2024

The second half of our 2024 shutdown will be beginning in just a few weeks. We will be completing planned maintenance work on our Power Boiler (PB #10), Hog Fuel Conveyor System, Paper Machine #2, and the OCC (recycling) plant. Work on the ASB pond will resume in 2025.

As we noted earlier in the year, our shutdown has been split into two separate sessions for 2024. We completed the first half in April and will now finish our planned Maintenance next month. The shutdown brings over 300 contractors to town each year, boosting the local economy with hotel room rentals, restaurant visits, and local purchases.

We had a great time answering your questions about the Mill, giving away PTPC swag, and of course handing out rolls of our PTPC Wrapping Paper! April 23 UPDATE: We are continuing our work during the Shutdown and are projecting completion this weekend. As we continue to perform maintenance tasks, you will see fewer and fewer contract workers in town. We are grateful for the assistance and expertise they provide as we tackle these important projects. We anticipate returning to normal operations by Monday, April 29.

ASD 2024 SHUTDOWN UPDATE

We are in full swing with the first part of our 2024 shutdown. Maintenance work on our Recovery Boiler, Pulp Mill, and Paper Machine #1 is moving along according to plan. The Reclamation Pond dredging project also continues.

As we complete the tasks and projects on our list, you'll see fewer contract workers in town. We should complete our work by April 24 and be back to normal operations. We appreciate the hard work that all of our employees and contract partners put in to the shutdown each year. This process is an integral piece of our overall management strategy and helps keep the mill running year after year.

The shutdown is split into two separate sessions this year, one to occur in the Spring and another in the late Fall. These sessions bring over 300 contractors to town each year, boosting the local economy with hotel room rentals, restaurant visits, and local purchases.

Folks who have lived in Port Townsend for a while know that the Paper Mill shuts down every year for planned maintenance. We normally shut down for ten days each October, but this year will be different.
