If doughnuts can have their own day so can the iconic Adirondack chair. Coinciding with the first day of summer (June 21st, 2022), we welcome you to join us today, as we celebrate “National Adirondack Day.”
Thomas Lee designed the first Adirondack chair while vacationing in the Adirondack Mountains in 1903. Lee felt a desire to create a chair that could handle the rugged terrain. This chair would have to be sturdy, balanced, and comfortable on everything from sandy ground to a small hill. Eventually, Lee came up with what he considered the perfect chair.
Much like it was 118 years ago, the Adirondack remains deeply engrained in the American psyche as an iconic symbol to help usher in a season of relaxing and entertaining.
Throughout the years, the Keter family of companies have drawn inspiration from the classic Adirondack chair and given it a modern twist. Some fresh takes on the traditional chair include cup and accessory holders, ergonomic back rests, pull out ottomans, and contemporary aesthetics. We are also deeply committed to refining our designs with sustainability in mind.
From the campfire to the cabin, backyard to the beach the essence of the Adirondack continues to burn brightly as a beacon for inspired and authentic living—and Keter is pleased to be taking the lead in getting the much-loved Adirondack the attention it deserves.
