1992 80' Evolution

Here are a couple of pictures of a super nice set of 1992 castings that are ready for assembly. They are all done up to my E80 SS2 port and blueprint package with a few optional details added in. I'll put up more detailed pics of this set at a later date, but they turned out both mechanically AND aesthetically so on point, that I had to share at least a couple right away!

2010 XR1200.

Full and complete custom port, seat and chamber work. Oversize seat inserts, Manley Gen II custom oversize valves, Nextek beehive springs, cc'd and decked. Throttle Body runners reworked and matched too! Returned with copies of the flow results and the most complete blueprint assembly spec sheet in the industry!

Locked, loaded, ready to rock and on their way to the Doc!

Over the hump and well along the way, I'm just about finished with some XR1200 castings equipped with a custom port/valve configuration developed for Corey and the crew at Doc's Performance Tuning in Florida. Maybe I'll get a few more detailed pics of it up before shipping time. But for now, it's back to work!

My 46-year anniversary in the business and some Shovelhead for your weekend viewing pleasure, because it was in the Shovelhead era that it all started for me as a full-time independent!

This 93 incher is a crankpin up and rocker shafts down complete true blueprinted assembly and just as with my cylinder head builds/blueprints, the customer will receive a copy of all the internal running clearances, endplays, balance factor etc. You know it takes very special customer to sneak a transmission in here for the same treatment, and this particular customer did succeed in doing so!

But then, ALL of my customers are special and on this special day thanks to ALL of them, past, present and future! It's been a great ride that's still got a long way to go!

Some of my HVT/HO port and blueprint package.

This set was done up for a late 4 3/8" stroke 107" Twin Cam being built for an everyday rider and/or sport touring application. 1.940 intake valve x 1.730 round port. Developed and built for the long haul. Broad torque, great throttle responsiveness throughout the operating range, economy and durability! This set was additionally machined for both manual AND H-D ACR's just because!

This very tired and worn Screamin' Eagle 120R top end was treated to a complete rebuild/blueprint the MEGAFLO way!

The 120R heads come from HD with cnc machined port contours. This particular set had some additional "fluff" to the ports and valve seat work done at some time in the past by an unknown facility. They were taken in for rebuild work only and not to address any improvement(s) that would involve additional port work, so after an initial assessment of what was done in the past, a few different tweaks and additional machining steps were required to provide for a high quality, durable and trustworthy finished assembly and otherwise get them where they need to be!

New custom machined valve guides, custom machined intake valves and reconditioned exhaust valves were in order. The AV&V 650 lift beehive springs tension checked right in at as-new specs, so the customer decided to stay with those. After the new guide and seat work was completed, the chambers were then cc'd and decked to both equalize the volumes and "pull out" an extra 2 cc to compensate for the new piston(s) dome volume.

The cylinders were bored and fit to a set of CP Carillo 3cc domed and the head gasket surfaces decked, fresh, flat, perpendicular and balanced height(s). Finally, the top fins adjacent to the exhaust where step machined to provide for easier installation of the exhaust system.

Much more than "just a rebuild" this top end will be returned to the customer with a copy of the most complete blueprint assembly spec sheet in the industry listing all internal clearances, fitments and more for the ultimate in quality control!

Don't fight it.

As I'm finishing up on a 120R top-end rebuild, here's a few pics of a very helpful modification as an aid to the assembly technician and that I've been doing for the last 15 years or so to the top cylinder fins. The purpose is to ease the sometimes-painful chore of getting that exhaust system up and in place while keeping the #*@%!!! to an acceptable level! Especially helpful when there's some semi-serious decking going on with the cylinder heads.

Damn near every time I do this, I think way back to the late 70's, 80's and early 90's when I still worked on complete bikes and how much a PIA it was to hang a stock multi-piece exhaust system back on a Shovelhead or Panhead. It was a true exercise in futility.
