Stock doesn’t just show up on the rack.

This run started as 7/8" x 240" domestic plain A36 round bar. Sheared into 41-1/2" blanks - five per bar plus a trim cut - then headed into 7/8" x 36" timber dumbbells. 82 pieces, 573 lbs of steel, now racked and waiting on a purchase order.

The dome head is where the Portland Bolt stamp and the A307 grade mark get forged in. Nobody has to wonder where these came from.

TriMet’s MAX Blue Line in Portland, OR has been running on some of the same traction power substations since 1983. Now they’re getting replaced, and we got to help.

For the new equipment foundations at the Pioneer Square substation, we supplied the anchor rod assemblies: F1554 Grade 55 rods, all-thread, heavy hex nuts, and hardened washers. All hot-dip galvanized, all domestically sourced, 1,702 lbs total, with mill test reports included.

Transit runs on power. Power runs on solid foundations.

When New York invested in modernizing State Route 17 through Owego, they needed hardware that could stand up to Southern Tier winters and heavy truck traffic for the long haul.

New roll-threading machine on the floor, and it's a sweet one.

Roll threading forms the thread by squeezing the steel between dies instead of cutting it away, so you get a stronger, cleaner thread and usually a better price. This new cylindrical die roll threader runs thru-feed and rolls threads up to 2". It'll even roll material as hard as grade 105. That means we can run more product faster and more cost-effectively.

F1554 Grade 105. The top of the spec at 105 ksi minimum yield, well above the Grade 36 and Grade 55 you see on some jobs. When somebody specs 105, they ran the numbers and need the extra muscle.

These are a small piece of a bigger order headed south for a dock fender system. Marine duty, so the hot-dip galvanizing earns its keep against the saltwater.

1-3/8" x 22-1/2", domestic steel. 5-3/8" of thread on one end, 3-3/8" on the other, three A194 hot-dip galvanized heavy hex nuts per rod, and an A572-50 square plate on one end of each.

Cut, threaded, galvanized, traceable to the mill.

28,010 lbs. of anchor rods. One order.

Here are F1554 Grade 105, some of them running 2-1/4" x 162", all domestic, all hot-dip galvanized, 18" of thread on each end. Plus the heavy hex nuts and hardened washers to match. These are not the kind of rods you toss in the back of a truck by yourself.

Here's the thing about big jobs. The rods get heavier, the specs get tighter, and the deadline does not care about any of it. That's the work we actually like. Founded in 1912, shipping nationwide, and still moving loads like this out the door. Banana for scale!
