Retro Mechanical Labs Building Distortion Boxes for a better tomorrow.

It’s national opossum day! While we don’t keep any as pets they have been visiting our feral cat shelter for a long time. They are quite lovely and friendly animals once you get to know them. Very gentle. 😍don’t judge me. I enjoy random forest animals more than people 😆 in other news I found myself batch soldering jacks and other parts that seem like a bottle neck. Got those out of the way for faster assembly. 👉 All guitar and synth pedals get washed in the sink. Laser etching leaves a residue. Kurd kutter dies the trick. Have you seen the new 2026 EFC pedal?

From the archives, this is another amazing Hyde Distortion Filter in a rare military box. This one took a lot and time and care to build out. Not the easiest thing to do. The HDF is still available as a crossover synth pedal. And cats!

Everyone likes to see how synth eurorack pedals are made so I put together a little video of the process. Gretta was very helpful as usual. 😂 Inspired UNIQUE DAILY who I cant tell if she’s actually making real food 😂

Best with headphones 👉 Model D through the Gatekeeper filter box. Arturia Pigments for the clean background treatments. Simple kick 909 drum. Moog One for the intro. 👉 if you were compelled to watch past 3 seconds send it to someone 😉

Kinda forgot I did this recording. Mellow with a Moog One and a 432k rev2 distortion filter pedal. Our sweet Lily made a brief appearance in the background. Phone audio does not do it justice.

Every time I run a GateKeeper through the testing process it becomes a sound design session. 😂

Come with me while I search for the perfect modular synth bass line. Great example of a split second moment in time that hit the pocket just right. In my opinion of course.
