🌍🔴What an incredible experience this year’s Seismic Design Competition has been!

After a year of designing, testing, and building our tower at McGill, we’re so proud of everything our team accomplished and how much we’ve grown since our rookie year in Berkeley. 

Beyond the competition, SDC 2026 and the 13th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering (13NCEE) gave us the opportunity to meet students, professors, and industry professionals from around the world who share the same passion for earthquake and structural engineering.

We are thrilled to announce that Sensequake has officially joined the McGill Seismic Design Team as a sponsor for our 2026 season! 🎉

✨ Event Recap | EERI Friedman Family Visiting Professionals Program (March 25, 2026)

Yesterday, we welcomed John Hooper, consulting Principal and Director of Earthquake Engineering at Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA), as part of the EERI Friedman Family Visiting Professionals Program at McGill University.
The day brought together students, researchers, and faculty for three events centered around seismic engineering, research, and career development. Our team had the opportunity to present our 2026 SDC design directly to John and receive his feedback.

John closed the day with a distinguished lecture on Performance-Based Seismic Design: Current Approaches and Future Trends, drawing on over 40 years of experience.
Thank you, John, for your time and generosity. We are also grateful to Prof. Matiyas A Bezabeh and Prof. Mohamed A Meguid for their support in making this event possible. 🙏
