POGO Cleaning Tips:
• Use a soft-bristle brush to remove soil and debris from the sensor tines
• Don’t be afraid to brush the stainless steel tines. They’re built to handle regular cleaning
• Use ethanol to clean the probe when needed
• Wipe down the sensor body to remove dirt and moisture after use
• Allow the sensor to dry before storing

Know Your Soil Temperature 🌡️🌱

Soil temperature can tell you more than just whether the ground is warming up.

The POGO Soil Temperature Probe lets you measure temperature at an adjustable depth, giving you the flexibility to collect readings where they matter most.

As the seasons change, soil temperature can help inform planting and seeding decisions and provide insight into conditions that influence root growth, w**d emergence, and soil organisms such as nematodes.

And because soil temperature isn't something you necessarily need to measure with every routine POGO sample, the probe can be adjusted up or extended down deeper when you want to investigate conditions below the normal sampling depth.

Built with long-lasting marine-grade stainless steel, the 2.25 in. (57 mm) probe is designed to reach the depth where predominant moisture and salinity exchanges occur, while giving you the flexibility to explore deeper soil conditions when needed.

The Next Chapter for Stevens Water

Today, we’re sharing exciting news about the future of Stevens Water Monitoring Systems.

After more than a century of innovation in water and environmental monitoring, Stevens is entering its next chapter. BinMaster Sensors and Technologies LLC, based in Lincoln, Nebraska, has acquired the assets of Stevens Water Monitoring Systems.

As part of this transition, our President and CEO, Scott South, will be retiring.

Scott has played an important role in guiding Stevens through years of growth, change, and innovation. His leadership has helped shape the company we are today, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, dedication, and commitment he has given to Stevens and its people.

As Scott shared with our team:

In 2013, Stevens began bringing its research-grade sensing technology into the world of turf management.

The first step was permanent soil sensing, we worked with other companies to explore how HydraProbe technology could provide valuable data in the field.

But we saw an opportunity to take it further.

A Legacy of Innovation 🌱

POGO’s parent company, Stevens Water Monitoring Systems, has a history that stretches back more than a century.

In 1911, J.C. Stevens invented the Type A chart recorder, creating a way to continuously record water levels and laying the foundation for more than 100 years of innovation in environmental monitoring.

But J.C. Stevens’ impact reached beyond instrumentation. Here in Portland, Oregon, he also helped found the Oregon Museum Foundation, which later became the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), where he would serve as president for 13 years.

Today, that same spirit of innovation continues through Stevens Water and POGO, from measuring water resources and soil to helping turf professionals better understand the conditions beneath their playing surfaces.
