FRC Team 3359 Royal Robotics

FRC Team 3359 Royal Robotics Royal Robotics is a group of high school students in Portsmouth exploring STEM careers and using their robot to compete in local and national competitions.

Royal Robotics was originally started under the name Portsmouth Commodores at I.C. Norcom High School. A few years later, the program was moved to Churchland High School where the name was changed to Royal Robotics. We incorporate all the other high schools in Portsmouth to be a part of the team. We have participated in FIRST competitions since 2009 and are steadily growing with 30 members and cou

nting. Our mentors, past and present, include Danielle Morgan, a physics teacher at Churchland High, John Wyld, a systems engineer, and several post graduate high school students.

Off Season Comp Complete!!!

Thank you for hosting the event for 2025 Rumble 10!

We had a blast taking our new members to experience a competition and to get one last run out of our 2025 Robot! Thank you Teams #620 Warbots and #3136 O.R.C.A for choosing us to be in the 3rd alliance with you! We could not have been more lucky in having the best alliance partners ever 💜💛

ANNNNDDDDDD WEEK 4!!!

We had the opportunity to participate in the Week 4 CHS District Blacksburg Event!!
Our experience was out of this world!!😁

We completed several qualification matches, with multiple team successes!! We were able to score algae into the barge successfully and consistently!! A big win in our books this weekend!💜💛

We are so thankful to teams 8592 and 977 for selecting us to join the 2nd alliance!

We braved through multiple playoff matches, finishing off as Finalists after the last finals match!!

We wish a BIG congratulations to teams 422 1629 and 2890 for winning this Week 4 comp!! 🥇

We are SO excited to announce that we have qualified and will be attending the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship!

ANDDDDDDDD WEEK 2 RECAP!!!

We have the lovely opportunity each year to host the CHS District Portsmouth VA Event, this year sponsored by Newport News Shipyard!!

This year did NOT disappoint!

After a few ROCKY qualification matches, we were very grateful to Team 1086 and Team 2534 Lumberjack Robotics to invite us to join the 4th alliance!! We pushed through several playoff matches and made our way to the finals!

This past Thursday a few student representatives were gifted the opportunity to attend our major sponsors’ event, the Starbase Victory Gala- Heart of Champions!

Starbase Victory recognized our coach, M. Isaiah Marriner, as STEM Educator of the Year!! We are insanely proud and honored to have such an amazing coach here with our team.

We had a blast showcasing our robot and talking about all we have learned with our experiences in the FIRST community!!

Anndddddddddddd WE’RE BACK!
We are so so so excited to welcome new members into the lab to start their journey with robotics. New members were tasked with creating a prototype that can compete and excel in a small team bonding VEX competition in the lab. We are so excited to document their progress as well as this new upcoming season! We are back and better than ever. Cheers to off-season!!!

Oh. My. Goodness.
This past weekend we held our home meet at our very own Churchland High School, and it was such a great experience for our team. It was our new robot’s debut for our first competition of the 2024 CRESCENDO season. We are so grateful to have been able to play alongside the best alliance partners and for the playoffs.

We are so very proud of our team, for not only pushing through some tough spots with our robot and making first place with our alliance, but also for trying out a new driver and some new drive team members!

We are so excited to continue our journey with this year’s robot and take her to succeed in further competitions. Go 3359!!💜💛👑

It’s Kickoff Day!!! We met in the lab today for the FRC 2024 CRESCENDO game release. We started off with some planning and discussion, then drew out some ideas and came up with a drawing of what we want to achieve with our robot this year. We had a blast yesterday at our last off-season competition of the year. Rumble In The Roads gave us a chance for one of our new drivers to practice and experience driving in competition, and our new members got to experience a real competition with their own eyes. We were picked by the 2nd alliance by and and we are so lucky to have had such great alliance partners. Even though we had gotten eliminated in the 3rd round of playoffs, we are so grateful for this wonderful experience!! We are more than ready to begin a new season with the best team and the best mentors. Go We had a blast yesterday at our last off-season competition of the year.
