💡 The More You Know

Your laundry area has its own electrical requirements too.

The National Electrical Code requires a dedicated 20-amp branch circuit for laundry receptacle outlets.

Washers, laundry equipment, and utility room appliances can place significant demands on a circuit.

Dedicated circuits help prevent overloads and improve reliability where it's needed most.

A properly wired laundry room is something most people never notice—which is exactly how it should be.

💡 The More You Know

Modern kitchens use a lot more electricity than they used to.

That's one reason the NEC requires at least two 20-amp small-appliance branch circuits to serve kitchen countertop receptacles.

Why?

Because coffee makers, air fryers, toasters, mixers, and other countertop appliances can draw a surprising amount of power.

Proper circuit design helps reduce nuisance breaker trips and keeps your kitchen functioning safely.

Electrical planning matters long before the first appliance gets plugged in.

NEC Code Corner

Your electrical panel isn't supposed to be hidden behind storage.

The National Electrical Code requires clear working space around electrical equipment so it can be safely inspected, maintained, and operated.

That means the area in front of your panel should stay clear of:

Shelving
Storage bins
Cleaning supplies
Holiday decorations

If an emergency ever happens, quick access matters.

When was the last time you checked the space around your electrical panel?

💡 The More You Know

Ever wonder why some outlets have those little TEST and RESET buttons?

Those are GFCI outlets, and they're designed to help protect people from electrical shock.

The 2023 National Electrical Code requires GFCI protection in locations where electricity and moisture are more likely to meet, including:

✔ Bathrooms
✔ Kitchens
✔ Garages
✔ Outdoor areas
✔ Crawl spaces
✔ Laundry areas
✔ Unfinished basements

It's one of the simplest and most effective electrical safety devices found in a home.

Take a look around your house—how many GFCI outlets can you spot?
