Embedded Software Engineer needed: Poulsbo, Washington
Pacific Volt manufactures AC-to-AC voltage regulators for the electric utility market. These single and three-phase regulators maintain voltage for residential and commercial loads independent of line voltage fluctuation. We have more than 3000 regulators in service throughout the world. For the past five years we have focused mainly on the single-phase regulators, but changes in the market have renewed demand for three-phase models. We need to incorporate the single phase lessons learned into an updated three-phase regulator.
We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer who is able to add value at all levels of the development process, including developing architecture and requirements definition, development, testing, and support. The core requirement of the job is the ability to understand an existing real-time embedded system well enough to modify and extend it.
Competencies and experience we are looking for:
- Developing and debugging on Microchip MPLAB X in ANSI C for PIC32MX and dsPIC33
microcontrollers
- Superloop architecture with if/else logic, as well as state-machine functions
- SPI and RS-232 communication
- SD card communications & protocols
- USB communications & protocols
- Familiarity with analog and sampled-data control systems theory
- This job function requires hardware in the loop development, so familiarity with laboratory
tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies
- Basic power systems knowledge, and experience working safely with voltages above 200V
and currents above 50A
- Ability to read schematics and debug hardware
- Switching power supply design experience is a plus
