In aviation, safety isn’t a checkbox—it’s a mindset. It’s something pilots recommit to on every preflight, every takeoff, and every approach.
At LASAR, that belief is at the core of everything we do: keeping aircraft flying safely, reliably, and responsibly for decades to come.
In a recent LASAR conversation, we sat down with two leaders who approach aviation from different—but deeply connected—angles:

✈️ Mike Ginter, Senior Vice President of the AOPA Air Safety Institute
✈️ Alex Skijus, Investment Adviser Representative at True Life Wealth Management

What united the discussion? A shared conviction that great pilots never stop learning—and that safety is strengthened through education, preparation, and continuous improvement.

A Mooney Safety Story Every Pilot Needs to Hear

At LASAR Aviation, safety is personal. In a recent video interview, Dan Bass—Mooney pilot and aviation safety advocate—sat down with Liam Hawkins to share a true story that nearly ended in tragedy.

What started as a routine IFR flight became a life-threatening emergency caused by carbon monoxide poisoning from a cracked exhaust muffler—undetectable by smell and easy to rationalize until it’s too late. Dan lost consciousness shortly after takeoff and survived only by a combination of luck, aircraft design, and resilience.

Key takeaways for every Mooney owner and GA pilot:

▪️A digital CO detector with audible/visual alarms is essential

▪️Exhaust and heating system maintenance matters—every flight

This conversation reinforces why certified parts, proper maintenance, and proactive safety equipment save lives.

Watch the interview. Share the lesson.
Save the Fleet. Secure the Future.

Alex Skijus and Mike Ginter said something in a recent conversation that stopped us in our tracks:

“Never compromise on the quality of parts—your safety depends on it.”

That belief is the foundation of everything we do at LASAR Inc.
In aviation, quality isn’t a “nice to have.”
It’s safety.
It’s trust.
It’s the difference between confidence and doubt at 10,000 feet.
That’s why we don’t cut corners. We validate specs, rebuild tooling, demand traceability, and invest in certified parts—because every bolt, bracket, and bearing carries responsibility.
Every part has a purpose.
Every decision affects safety.
And compromise is never an option.

Happy Holidays
We know you all have questions. We’ve heard the chatter. Here are some answers.

For our Mooney Assurance participants, we hope to have an outlined path to move forward very soon. Your commitment to the cause is appreciated; your patience is immeasurable.

Our focus has been on keeping Mooney parts in production; bringing obsolete parts back to market; securing the future of the Mooney Aircraft. The team is intently engaged in addressing these goals on multiple fronts.
Please continue to work with our Parts Team.
Your needs are the driving force in production prioritization. Your Mooney Authorized Service Center can support your service needs. Not sure where to find one?
Email us at [email protected], we can help. Technical support is still available through 541-MyLASAR (541-695-2727) for those off questions or quirky needs.

Our gift to you this holiday season is to secure a future for your Aircraft. To ensure you have access to the parts, the knowledge, teams of professionals skilled in the service of your aircraft.

We wish for you the continued joy and freedom of flight for now and decades to come.

For years, LASAR has been the primary distributor of Mooney parts — the team pilots, owners, and service centers turned to when something needed fixing, replacing, or rebuilding. But here’s the part many people don’t see: while LASAR handled the logistics, the service, and the support, we’ve always depended on Mooney to build the certified parts that keep the fleet flying.

Mooney held the Type Certificate. Mooney built the parts. LASAR got them into the hands of the people who needed them most.

That partnership worked for decades… until it didn’t.
As the hangars in Kerrville grew quieter and vendors drifted away, the supply chain that fed the entire Mooney ecosystem began to collapse. Owners felt it. Service centers felt it. And LASAR felt it most of all because the parts pipeline we depended on was disappearing.

So when the moment came, we didn’t buy a brand — we stepped in to save a legacy.

Today:
Mooney still builds certified parts and stewards the TC — the heart of the aircraft.
LASAR continues distributing, supporting customers, and supplementing availability with additional and PMA parts where appropriate.
LASAR Aviation coordinates the entire operation so the factory can stay focused on production instead of drowning in operational overhead.

It’s the same mission as always — just with clearer lanes and stronger support:
Keep ’em flying.

And every dollar we generate, every process we fix, every vendor we reactivate goes right back into Mooney’s ability to build, so we can continue to distribute.

Because this isn’t ownership. It’s stewardship.

The Mooney community is one of the most passionate, sharp, and skillful groups in all of aviation — and we’re reminded of that every time we get to sit down with one of you.

We had the honor of interviewing Andrew Stagg — a major airline pilot, a Mooney owner, and one of the many brilliant aviators who make this community what it is. Andrew shared real, honest insight into the challenges Mooney pilots face when it comes to maintenance and parts support.

Hearing these stories matters.

Because every experience shared — every pain point, every idea, every “here’s what would make life easier” — helps us do our job better.

At LASAR and Mooney, our mission is simple:
Keep the fleet flying, one airplane and one honest day’s work at a time.

That’s why we’re rebuilding systems, modernizing access, stabilizing parts production, and launching programs like Mooney Assurance, where the community itself helps fuel the revival of the fleet.

We don’t take your trust lightly.
We don’t take your experiences lightly.
And we certainly don’t take this community for granted.
To Andrew — and to every Mooney pilot out there — thank you.
Thank you for your precision, your passion, your honesty, and your commitment to a legacy worth fighting for.
We’re here to listen.
We’re here to serve.
And most importantly — we’re here to solve the issues that have grounded this fleet for far too long.
One team. One mission. Keep ’em flying.

For nearly 70 years, Mooney aircraft have defined what performance aviation feels like — precision engineering, unmatched efficiency, and a flying experience that turns every pilot into a believer. Mooney isn’t just an airplane. It’s a legacy worth protecting.

But legacies don’t survive on nostalgia. They survive on people willing to fight for them — owners, service centers, and partners committed to keeping the fleet in the air. And today, that mission lives at the heart of everything we’re building at LASAR Aviation.

When Mooney’s future grew uncertain, we didn’t see a fading brand.
We saw a heritage worth saving.
We saw thousands of Mooney drivers who deserve parts they can trust, support they can count on, and a supply chain built for the next 50 years of flight.

As our brand story puts it:
👉 “They didn’t buy a brand; they adopted a legacy.”
👉 LASAR exists to preserve and propel the Mooney legacy — keeping the fleet flying one part, one airplane, one honest day’s work at a time.

Today, we’re rebuilding Mooney from the inside out:
✈️ Revalidating specs and rebuilding tooling in Kerrville
✈️ Restoring the parts pipeline with sustainable production
✈️ Launching modern systems like the MSC Portal for real-time inventory
✈️ Reinvesting every dollar back into Mooney operations and the people who keep the fleet flying

Because legends shouldn’t fade.
Because Mooney, by the people and for the people, deserves a future as bold as its past.

And with programs like Mooney Assurance, the community is now directly powering the revival — turning passion into production, and support into sustainability.
