Which Mackie is right for you? 🔪

I took the Mackie and Mini Mackie out to the garden, grabbed a tomato and a few green peppers, and put both knives to work.

In this reel, I go over the differences between the two sizes, where each one shines, and how the finger hole provides a consistent grip and added blade control during detailed cutting.

The Mini Mackie offers compact carry and precise control, while the full-size Mackie gives you more cutting edge for larger jobs and food preparation.

The camera work is still a work in progress. The knives aren’t. 😂

The newest batch of Mackies and Mini Mackies is officially available at Buttonhook Forge.

Two sizes. Same working-knife DNA.

🔪 Mackie — 5" blade / 10" overall
🔪 Mini Mackie — 3.75" blade / 7" overall

Both are handcrafted from tough 80CrV2 high carbon steel, built by hand, and created for people who actually use their knives.

Quantities are limited on this batch, and The Forge got first access last night—so what’s on the website now is what’s left.

Five Basilones into the quench. 🔥

Afterward, each blade gets checked with a 65 HRC file to confirm the steel hardened properly before tempering.

This batch is officially through heat treat—and these aren’t ordinary Basilones. More soon.

Putting the final edge on the next Mackie and Mini Mackie drop. 🔪

In this reel, I talk through how I sharpen each knife before taking you along for the process—from the first passes on the grinder to the final edge.

Every knife is sharpened by hand and checked before it leaves my shop. Good steel and solid construction matter, but a working knife still has to arrive ready to work.

The Mackies and Mini Mackies are almost ready. More drop details coming soon.

It amazes me how far my small knife shop has shipped knives.

From processing moose in Alaska to cutting up bait for deep sea fishing in Florda.

And thats just shipping addresses. I know they are putting in work in even more places.
