Apparently my buffer is a dual-purpose machine: handle polishing and surprise durability testing. 🤦‍♂️

The wheel caught the tip of this Daly and launched it straight into the concrete floor. That’ll get your attention.

The damage? The slightest bend at the very fine tip—something I can easily correct. An unplanned demonstration of the toughness of 80CrV2 and the heat treatment behind it.

I’d still prefer to keep future testing a little more controlled. 😂

Been a little quiet on here the last few days—but definitely not quiet in the shop.

I’ve been putting the hours in on a few projects I’m pretty damn proud of.

First up is a knife for the Valor Support Project. Any time I can use what I do here at Buttonhook Forge to support veterans and the people doing good work for that community, I’m glad to be a part of it. Check them out and see what they’re doing for those who served.

I also just wrapped up three special Basilones. These were a meaningful build for me personally, and I’m incredibly proud of how they turned out. Projects like these are exactly why I enjoy doing this work.

And next on the bench: six Dalys.

So if it looks like Buttonhook Forge has been a little quiet lately, don’t mistake that for slowing down. There’s been plenty of steel moving through the shop—and plenty more coming.

While I have radio silent the past few days, I haven't been lazy.

I have been working on a few different projects and this has been one of them.

Don't let the quick shop pictures fool you; this knife for Valor Support Project 's fundraiser came out great.

Finish grinding. Where the puckered factor is turned up to 11.

The clean lines and shiny finish mark the last step in a knife build where it can all go wrong (at least in my mind).

The cherry on top is the guaranteed headache I will have tomorrow from staring down at a grinder all day.

Totally worth it.

I started my Monday out in the shop getting ready to finish grind my 4 Basilones and 6 Dalys.....and then accepted the fact that I have a vice problem.

Who needs 7 vices in a small shop? No one, but I have that many.

And dont even get me started on cast iron cookware.
