A big part of mountain living is designing a home around what’s already there.

We wanted the mountains to stay in view as you move through the home, so big windows and doors open up the main living spaces and bedroom to the setting around them.

A home is meant to be a place where people gather, and we like to think about what that looks like in every part of the house.

Here, the main living spaces are bright, open, and more traditional, while the lower level has its own personality with a theater and gathering space. Different spaces for different kinds of moments, but all designed to bring people together.

A kitchen designed for real life.

The working pantry keeps prep and cleanup out of the main kitchen, while a pass-through window makes serving outside easy.

Everything has its place, including the mess.

Some homes have a view. This one has a whole valley.

The trick with a view like this is making it part of daily life, not just something you notice when guests visit.

Big black-framed windows pull the mountains into the dining area, the office, and the primary suite. Up high, a row of narrow windows brings in even more light. The darker walls keep everything else quiet so the landscape gets the attention.

From the road, the stone and dark siding sit low against the hillside. Inside, everything faces outward.

Most Colonials are all about symmetry and polish. We wanted this one to feel like it had a little history.

On the outside, the design keeps the classic Colonial character. Inside, we let the materials do the work. A stone fireplace runs all the way up the two-story wall. The beams overhead have real weight to them. The oak cabinetry, the plaster hood, and the wide-plank floors all bring warmth and texture.

What does quiet luxury actually look like in a home?

For us, it’s less about any one statement piece and more about how everything works together.

Warm, restrained materials. Clean lines. Large openings that frame the views and connect the interior to the outdoor spaces. Architectural details that feel intentional without needing to be the center of attention.

Simple, but never boring.

We kept the palette quiet and let the details do the heavy lifting—warm wood, natural stone, subtle pattern, and just enough contrast to keep your eye moving.
Proof that sometimes, less really is more.

How do you capture the best views from inside a home?

For us, it starts with the rooms themselves.

We positioned the main spaces around the best views on the property, then designed the windows to frame them; including two stories of glass in the great room and smaller groupings throughout the home.

This way, the views feel like part of the house, not something added after.

A home this size doesn't just get bigger. It gets more complicated.

Every big decision here had to work at a different scale — the layout, the flow, even getting from one floor to another. That's part of why there's an elevator tucked in next to the stairs. When a home is this size, convenience isn't a luxury, it's just good design.

Most houses are designed around a floor plan. This one was designed around a view.

When a site hands you mountains like these, the plan has to bend around them. Every window in this one earns its spot — wake up and the view's right there, walk out back and it's still right there. We didn't want the mountains to just be a bonus tacked onto a few rooms. We wanted them woven into the whole layout, so no matter where you are in the house, you're still looking at them.
