A few summers ago, I replaced the 1,300 sq' of wrap-around patio at the Pine, AZ cabin by installing composite decking, aluminum railing and stainless steel cabling. All trusts were treated with creosote wood preserver and a strip of tarpaper added on top to help prevent wood rot. The patio should last a long time again the elements.....

Green grass anyone?? Over the winter, I removed the natural grass and added artificial turf. After removing the old sod, I applied pre-emergence, then compacted DG, installed a nailer board around the edges, which then allowed me to nail and staple the new turf down. After applying 1,000 #'s of sand we are now ready for any monsoons......

The Pickle Handyman, owned and operated by Steve Gerken, started out 20+ years ago as MSG Investments, LLC. There have been numerous projects completed during this time to include total interior and exterior renovations of a Pine, AZ cabin and interior of our Queen Creek home. Other endeavors included home improvements and updating for friends and family, landscaping design and implementation, and even classic car restorations.
