Pierre Part Natural Gas Company - System Modernization & Reliability Update

Pierre Part Natural Gas Company has operated since 1955, and is currently serving approximately 1 ,400 customers in Assumption Parish. As part of South Coast Gas, we are dedicated to safe and reliable service.

What's changing and why it matters

Our system has recently encountered new challenges. We recognize that reliable natural gas is essential for your comfort and safety. Increased use of residential backup generators during power outages has caused sudden demand spikes, while ongoing growth has placed added pressure on parts of the system not originally designed for these conditions.

To address these issues, we partnered with SJB Group in 2023 to evaluate system performance and plan improvements.

What we're doing now

• Increasing capacity at existing meter stations
• Installed new monitoring points to identify pressure issues

Prioritizing upgrades in areas that have experienced outages
In February 2026, a comprehensive Gas Modernization Plan was completed. This multiphase plan outlines key upgrades to improve reliability and support future growth.

A major step forward

The first project is a new City Gate Meter Station on the north side of the system, connecting to a second gas supplier.

• It will help maintain pressure during periods of high demand.
• It will also strengthen long-term system reliability.

What's next

We are currently exploring financing options for this important project. As we move forward, we will continue to coordinate closely with the Louisiana Public Service

Commission and keep our customers and communities informed. Your understanding and support mean a lot to us.

It has come to our attention that there are some gas pressure issues in the Chauvin/Dulac areas. This may be due to routine maintenance done on certain gas lines. South Coast Gas is working closely with our gas supplier to resolve this issue quickly and safely.
