DeltaHawk Engines, Inc.

DeltaHawk Engines, Inc. DeltaHawk Engines, Inc. is an American aircraft engine manufacturer developing heavy fuel (diesel and Jet-A) engines.

was formed in 1996 to answer the general aviation industry’s call for a “clean sheet” compression-ignition engine. By 1997, DeltaHawk developed a prototype engine running on a static Velocity airframe. Today, DeltaHawk continues to anticipate and exceed the needs of general aviation. And in 2018, plans to test and certify their multi-fuel (Diesel or Jet-A) 160-200 horsepower engine family for Fede

ral Aviation Administration (FAA) certification; resulting in the smallest, lightest, most fuel-efficient and reliable multi-fuel engines on the market. Aviation applications range from small two-seat Light Sport Aircraft at the lower end of the power range, to 6-seat single engine and 12-seat twin engine fixed wing aircraft and 4-seat helicopters at the high end; as well as civilian and military drones. The DeltaHawk family of heavy-fuel piston engines combines long-established diesel engine principles with modern materials and design. This forward thinking produces a high power-to-weight ratio product with the added benefit of reduced fuel consumption as compared to equivalent gasoline engines. Because of their simple, durable and compact design DeltaHawk engines have found use in these applications: Drones, Land Vehicles, Generators, Compressors, Marine Use, Mineral Exploration, and other space and weight restricted applications. As DeltaHawk explores the future, the company is committed to building the finest heavy-fuel diesel engines available. This year, our theme is "one revolution deserves another" as we honor America's 250th anniversary! At DeltaHawk, we believe the best way to commemorate this milestone is by recognizing our extraordinary team members who are military veterans. They embody dedication and innovation as they work towards the next revolution in aviation power. Join us in shining a spotlight on one of our remarkable veterans each week!
Kicking off our series is Josh Rubio, a proud United States Air Force veteran who served for six years at Dyess AFB and the 128th Air Refueling Wing. Now an essential part of our Aircraft Integration Team as the Airframe Mechanic Team Lead, Josh exemplifies teamwork and commitment both on and off duty.
Thank you for your service, Josh! We’re honored to have you with us at DeltaHawk as we soar into the future together!

This school year, DeltaHawk partnered with James Bucholtz’s Aviation pathway program at Horlick High School for an immersive student capstone project.

The students were tasked with solving a real-world problem for DeltaHawk. After kicking things off with a facility tour, they worked all year on an essay, video, and final presentation. Huge thanks to DeltaHawk mentor Bryce Rybarik for guiding the students and opening the hangar for their project needs.

Today, the students presented their final solutions to our leadership team and did an outstanding job. Thank you to the The Academies of Racine Youth Apprenticeship program and the Horlick Aviation program at Racine Unified Schools for such a rewarding collaboration! The future of flight is in good hands!

DeltaHawk is driving the future of autonomous flight! ✈️🤖

Our team—Max Moulis, Daniel Schimp, Bryce Rybarik, and John Stephansky—recently wrapped up an incredible week in Detroit at AUVSI’s XPONENTIAL 2026!

The biggest takeaway this year? The industry is moving fast from conceptual designs to practical, field-ready systems. With a massive push toward long-range endurance, vertical lift, and operations in rugged, infrastructure-limited environments, DeltaHawk drew strong interest for our:

Heavy-fuel propulsion technology 🛠️

Scalable production capabilities 📈

Reliable, efficient, U.S.-built systems 🇺🇸

As commercial and defense sectors demand ultimate operational flexibility, DeltaHawk is ready to deliver.

We are incredibly proud to showcase a recently completed senior capstone project in partnership with the brilliant minds at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) ! 🎓

Students Ryan Anderson, Victor Bisog, and Dani Krogh—under the guidance of Advisor Dr. Kevin Hart—took on a complex aerospace challenge: designing an ultralight engine block for small aircraft.

Using a specialized injection-molded phenolic resin with short glass fiber reinforcement, this talented team engineered an alternative engine block design that achieved an incredible 30.8% weight reduction while meeting rigorous thermal, pressure, and structural constraints.

A few project highlights:
🛠️ The Mission: Reduce overall weight of a horizontally opposed, aluminum, twin-cylinder boxer engine.

🛠️ The Innovation: Selected a high-strength composite material unreactive to coolant and fuel, capable of handling intense thermal gradients.

🛠️ The Proof: Advanced FEA Analysis proved a powerful Factor of Safety (3.36), ensuring the design can withstand intense combustion pressures.

A massive thank you to the MSOE team and everyone involved for their incredible work. Investing in the next generation of engineers isn’t just rewarding; it’s how we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in aviation power.

We had an incredible time at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) for the annual SAE end-of-year banquet. Four of our DeltaHawk engineers were on-site to host a booth, showcasing our engine components and sharing the "why" behind our mission to redefine general aviation.

We’re proud to support student organizations like SAE that bridge the gap between the classroom and the industry. Thanks to the MSOE leadership and Dr. Nebojsa Sebastijanovic for hosting a top-tier event!

It’s always inspiring to see the passion these students bring to the Supermileage, Formula Hybrid, and Baja teams. The future of engineering is in good hands!
