At S&ME, our teams work in all kinds of environments, and fall protection is critical.
In recognition of National Safety Month we’re sharing a few key Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS) reminders:
• Choose the right anchorage point: It must support 5,000 pounds per person and be properly designed, installed, and verified. Never tie off to rebar or other temporary materials not engineered for fall protection.
• Training matters: PFAS only works when it’s used correctly. Workers must know how to inspect, wear, connect, and use the system safely.
• Plan before the task: Identify fall hazards early, confirm tie-off points, and reassess if site conditions change.
• When in doubt, stop and ask: If something doesn’t seem right, pause work and contact your supervisor or Safety team.
Before working at elevation, teams should always recognize hazards, evaluate the environment, and confirm the right controls are in place.
