North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives

North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives Powering a Brighter Future for 2.8 million cooperative members and communities across North Carolina.

Electric cooperatives are unique - they are owned by the member-consumers they serve, and as a result, cooperatives can be very responsive to the needs of their members and their local communities. In North Carolina, the electric cooperative network is made up of 26 local electric cooperatives that provide energy to more than 2.5 million people in 93 of the state's 100 counties as well as a family

of organizations that provide support to the 26 local co-ops. This support includes generating and transmitting electricity, trade association services, including the production of award-winning Carolina Country magazine, a materials supply cooperative and an energy efficiency and renewable energy cooperative. The cooperatives are member-owned, not-for-profit and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership. Our commitment has always been and will always be to deliver reliable, safe and affordable energy to North Carolina's electric cooperative members.
