Why do I need gutters? Great question. We often get asked this question by our perspective customers. When there are so many other costs to home ownership and property management, what makes this more important than others?
A gutter system can save you THOUSANDS in water damage repairs. Homeowners often need gutters for several reasons:
Attic Protection: Without gutters, excess moisture can seep into your attic, causing mold, mildew, wood rot, stains, and fungus.
Basement Protection: Excess rainwater can flood your basement, leading to costly repairs or mold and mildew.
Clay Soil: Porous soils, like red clay, retain water and draw it towards your home, potentially damaging the foundation. Gutters with drainpipes can safely redirect this water.
Landscape or Flowerbeds: Gutters with extended downspouts direct water away from your garden, preventing soil erosion.
Limited Roof Overhang: Roofs with little or no overhang allow water to cascade down the siding, forming trenches near the foundation and causing structural erosion over time.
Upward Slopes: Homes at the bottom of a hill or surrounded by upward slopes can experience water pooling, causing damage without proper drainage.
Wet Climates: Homes in areas with heavy rainfall are particularly susceptible to water damage without adequate gutter systems.
Additional Concerns: Rainwater can damage your siding, create mold and mildew problems, and lead to structural issues and costly repairs.
