As part of the North Haines Avenue Roadway Improvements Project, the contractor will soon begin the cement stabilized subgrade phase of construction. This work requires a
change to the current traffic control configuration to safely and efficiently complete the roadway reconstruction.

Beginning on 6/15/2026, traffic through the construction zone will be restricted to NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC ONLY.

Key information:
• Access through the project will be limited to local traffic only.
• Only local northbound travel will be permitted within the construction area.
• Southbound traffic will not be allowed through the work zone during and outside of work
hours and motorists will need to use alternate routes. See attached figure for possible
alternate routes to consider.
• Residents, property owners, mail delivery, school transportation, emergency services, and
other local traffic will continue to have access to properties within the project limits.
• Construction activities may periodically cause delays while equipment is operating or materials are being placed.
• During reconstruction of the west half of the roadway, motorists should expect longer delays at intersections and access points as traffic is routed through active construction areas and crews complete cement stabilization operations.
• Please reduce speeds, follow all posted traffic control devices, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

The cement stabilization process is a critical part of the roadway reconstruction and will
help provide a stronger, longer-lasting roadway for the community.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain reasonable access while completing the work safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve North Haines Avenue.

We appreciate the support from the Meade County Sheriff’s Office as this project begins Monday on Haines Ave.
Our crews will be working hard to rebuild this roadway safely and efficiently, but there will be delays, changing traffic patterns, heavy equipment, and temporary closures throughout the project.

Please slow down through the work zone, follow flaggers and signage, and stay off closed or freshly graded areas. Giving crews and equipment room to work safely helps keep the project moving.

We know construction is inconvenient, but the end result will be a much improved roadway for the community.
Thanks for the patience, Meade County 👊

Hey Meade County!

If you have not noticed the crews have been out on Haines Ave, doing some survey markings and planning out the project that begins this MONDAY MAY 18th!

They will be removing asphalt on the south end of the project and will work north as progress allows.

Some things to keep in mind as this project gets underway:

Homeowners along Haines in the construction zone will have access to their homes throughout the project.

There will be times when only one lane is open, and the traffic will be limited to local traffic only.

They will work to keep emergency vehicle routes open.

There will be unavoidable delays with flaggers, pilot cars and detours.

Folks who use Haines on a regular basis should consider learning alternate routes while this project is being completed if possible.

That's the official "declaration / public service announcement"....

Here's a deciphered version for others:

There will be large trucks and equipment on the roadway.

At times, there will be no roadway at all.

If there is an emergency, we will find a way through, but this is reserved for the vehicles with fancy red and blue lights on top. If you don't have the fancy lights, don't try driving through.

Local Traffic only, means the folks who actually live on or just off of Haines, and there is no other way to get to the house. Our friends on Elk Creek Road, and you know who you are, are not considered "local traffic".

If you choose to utilize Haines during this project, you may be sitting in your car awhile on a delay. I suggest you find a good podcast; I have been listening to Shawn Ryan as of late. Not for everyone, but you get it.

If by some incredible force of nature, you find yourself driving through the project when you are not supposed to be, and you happen to cause damage to the work being done, you will be held personally liable for the damages. Yes, your jacked up 2001 Silverado rust box will cause extensive damage to freshly graded gravel. That's an expensive redo...

Erickson Ranch Road and Elk Vale Road will likely see a great deal more traffic on them. Please remember there are speed limits and our Deputies will be out enforcing those limits. Just leave your house a little earlier in the morning and you will have plenty of time.

Please do not call 911 to complain about the construction or the delays. Construction like this is an inconvenience, but it's necessary. Be patient, be nice to each other, and know a rebuilt road is for the betterment of everyone.

Keep your chin up and Be Safe Meade County!
