Yesterday, members of the AIChE received a comprehensive tour of GCC's cement plant in Rapid City, delving into the intricacies of Portland cement manufacturing. While specific stoichiometric ratios of calcium, iron oxide, silicon, and aluminum in cement were not disclosed, Chemical and Mining Engineers were immersed in the sophisticated chemistries, operational intricacies, and meticulous sampling methods integrated to the production of high-quality cement powder.

With the conclusion of the 2023 AIChE annual student conference, our chapter has come back with great experiences and emanating memories.
Attendees of the conference were exposed to technical seminars, poster presentations, networking socials, and recruitment opportunities. This event significantly enhanced the professional development of the members who attended.
Our AIChE chapter represented the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at the national level in the ChemE Car and ChemE Jeopardy events.
A special thanks goes out to the Karen M. Swindler Chemical and Biological Engineering Department SDSM&T for an exceptional dinner with the faculty!
