When a well is “plugged” with a bad cement job, the problems rarely show up on day one. Over time, as pressures equalize downhole, that “dead” well can start talking again at the surface, bringing oil, gas, and regulatory trouble with it. That is when we get the call. 📞

Our team hot taps the casing, confirms what pressures we are dealing with, and tries to kill the well with weighted kill fluid. If that is not enough, we bring in a snubbing unit and drill it out so we can remove the bad cement and install quality, permanent plugs the right way.

Proper P&A is not a paperwork exercise. It is an environmental, safety, and compliance commitment that either holds for decades…or fails when it matters most.

🌳Environmental remediation is where our Safe and P.A.I.D. mindset really goes to work. Most of the calls we get are for E&P waste cleanups with high oil, high grease, high salt, and our team is set up to handle those conditions every single day without changing our standard operating procedures.

On a recent abandoned site from the 1980s in central Mississippi, we were brought in after three old storage tanks and production equipment were leaking oil and waste into the surrounding soil. We contained the contamination on site, triple-rinsed the tanks before disposal, removed and replaced impacted soil with strict controls to prevent cross-contamination, and monitored TENORM and metals until the site was back where it needed to be.

📆 What is a “typical” day for a Top Hand Services field crew? Trucks are rolling out by 5–6 am. Plan-of-The-Day meeting starts at 7am. Tools are in the ground by 7:45 am. Every hand on site knows the plan, the hazards, and exactly how they’re going to keep each other Safe and P.A.I.D. while getting production done.

❓What might surprise most people? For a bunch of roughnecks who get stuff done, we laugh a lot more than you’d expect and genuinely enjoy our time together on site. If you’ve never worked a P&A site before, just know: it’s serious work, but it’s a lot more fun than you think.
