Happy Monday!

We found this handyman fix on a structural column today. The homeowner had called us out to look at their home’s sagging floors and when we were doing our inspection they pointed out that their column had previously settled and a handyman repaired it.

Not only did they stuff mending plates in between the gap but they did not diagnose that the floor had settled indicating a larger problem.

Thankfully we were able to diagnose and come up with a proper solution involving helical piers as a deep foundation system as well as being able to lift the floor back into place.

If you have columns that look like this or are experiencing sagging floors then give Atlas Systems of New England a call and we can provide you with a free .

Happy Wednesday everyone!

This was a fun project we did in Scituate, MA where we installed 25 Earth Contact Products wall mounted resistance piers to stabilize a settling foundation.

This was a challenging project due to having to deal with the tidal influence beneath the house.

We had to excavate the soil underneath the slab and install each pier to 30’ in order to achieve a suitable bearing stratum.

Once installed we were able to lift the house over 3-1/2” inches back to level.

If your home or business has settlement issues and you are looking to stabilize the foundation than look no further than Atlas Systems. For over 30 years we have been fixing sinking foundations throughout New England.

Did you know that Boston’s clay soils and landfill history create some of the toughest soil conditions in New England and helical piers are engineered to handle exactly that.

Helical piers are high-strength steel piles with helix plates welded to the shaft. They are driven into the ground allowing them to bypass weak soils until they reach a suitable, load bearing stratum.

This matters in Boston because much of the city is built on landfill layered over Boston Blue Clay (marine clay). Over time these materials compress, shift and lose bearing capacity that traditional shallow foundation cannot account for.

That is why for over 30 years Atlas Systems of New England has been working with to install helical piers to support their projects.

If you are building in and want a strong foundation then look no further than Atlas Systems of New England. We can help support your project.

Happy Friday!

Our crew was out in stabilizing and lifting an existing deck.

This deck was sitting on existing concrete piers that were settling but the deck was only 3 years old. Our team installed 10 with porch piers brackets. These piles were driven to a suitable bearing stratum and achieved over 25 kips. We then attached to new blocking and were able to lift the deck back into place and give the homeowner peace of mind that there deck would never settle.
