Did you know that Boston’s clay soils and landfill history create some of the toughest soil conditions in New England and helical piers are engineered to handle exactly that.
Helical piers are high-strength steel piles with helix plates welded to the shaft. They are driven into the ground allowing them to bypass weak soils until they reach a suitable, load bearing stratum.
This matters in Boston because much of the city is built on landfill layered over Boston Blue Clay (marine clay). Over time these materials compress, shift and lose bearing capacity that traditional shallow foundation cannot account for.
That is why for over 30 years Atlas Systems of New England has been working with to install helical piers to support their projects.
If you are building in and want a strong foundation then look no further than Atlas Systems of New England. We can help support your project.
