The future of prefab is panelized, Passive House-ready, and architect-driven.

This article in ArchiExpo e-Magazine features our sister company Simplus Systems, written by Timothy J. Lorang and guided by the technical expertise of our own Tim Sweeney.
,
Together they show how magnesium oxide panels, Passive House detailing, and design-first prefab can offer both speed and performance—without compromising your architectural vision.

Resilience in architecture means designing for more than beauty — it’s about survivability, comfort, and rapid recovery after disaster.

The New York Times recently covered KB Home’s fire-resistant community in Escondido, CA — a great example of how building science can protect communities.

At Sweeney Architecture, we take resilience further by integrating Passive House performance with MgO SIP prefabrication — delivering faster, stronger, energy-efficient homes that can adapt to our changing climate.

🏠 Smarter housing is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity.

New energy policies mean rising utility bills for families across the country. And with permitting delays and more disasters on the horizon, we need housing that works smarter.

Our latest blog connects the dots and offers a path forward.
đź”— Why Rising Energy Costs Make Smarter Housing a No-Brainer

If you watched tonight’s PBS episode “World Insect Apocalypse” from the “Bugs That Rule” series (https://www.pbs.org/video/insect-apocalypse-p51aq9/), you know how urgently we must act to stop global warming and the reckless destruction of our planet. Fossil fuels and greenhouse gases are driving an existential crisis that worsens daily.

Worse still, the Public Media system—our source of objective, fact-based reporting—is under threat. Defunding PBS and NPR limits our ability to stay informed and speak out. Why would a government highlight its own failures to protect the environment? It wouldn’t. Silencing public media is censorship by defunding.

We must defend our right to information and a free press—core American values. Supporting Public Media means supporting truth, science, and democracy. This isn’t about being “woke”—it’s about making a difference. See: https://protectmypublicmedia.org/rsc-emails/
