We had a great time at SWANA WRS 2026 connecting with industry peers, sharing insights, and supporting the solid waste community.

SCS was proud to participate as a Platinum Sponsor and exhibitor, and we appreciate everyone who stopped by our booth to connect with our team.

A highlight of the conference was seeing Stipe Markotic present on community air monitoring programs, sparking meaningful discussions around environmental solutions.

We’re also proud of our SCS speakers, Brett Wilks and Lauren Romanazzi, for contributing their expertise and helping move important conversations forward.

Thank you to our incredible team members who represented SCS at the event: Vidhya Viswanathan, Lauren Romanazzie, Erik Martig, Melissa St. John, Patrick Sullivan, Maxton Lam, and Quincy Laris.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and advancing sustainable solutions together.

Understand and Prepare Now for the CARB Landfill Methane Rule Amendments: CARB’s proposed amendments to the Landfill Methane Regulation will materially raise compliance expectations for landfill and GCCS operations to support the state's 2030 methane-reduction goals. However, the changes introduce more rigorous monitoring, tighter operational thresholds, and faster implementation timelines. Owners and operators should start planning now for additional staffing, capital investment, infrastructure upgrades, and technology deployment.

In this paper and video, Senior Vice President and SCS’s National Expert on the Clean Air Act, Patrick Sullivan, BCES, CPP, REPA, summarizes the information that landfill and renewable natural gas facilities need to begin planning for compliance.
