Job Title: Machine Operator

Pay Range: $21.00 - $26.00 Per Hour

Age Requirement: 18+

Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Desired

Experience / Qualifications Desired: The ability to collaborate with others. Computer literacy, basic math skills, and blueprint reading.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Job
Operation of the following equipment to product parts:
Shear, CNC Punch Press, CNC Plasma Table, CNC Band Saw, other fabrication equipment as required.
Read and understand work order specification, prints, and shop travelers
Forklift operation
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to accurately read tape measure
Proper use of tools required
Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Build, assemble, test, and install wire harnesses and control panels.
• Assemble operator cabs.
• Assemble hydraulic equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems.
• Distinguish between different colors.
• Lift 50 lbs,
• Use measuring instruments to verify conformance of parts.
• Read and understand: drawings, diagrams, wire lists, specifications, and work instructions.
• Plan assembly operations according to established guidelines and quality standards.
• Manage inventory following established guidelines and procedures including: labeling and locating parts, picking parts from appropriate locations in specified quantities, delivering parts to work areas, and recording and communicating inventory levels.
• Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify function, capability, or conformance to specifications.
• Properly use tools required.
• Layout and drill, ream, tap or cut parts for assembly.
• Rework, repair or replace damaged parts or assemblies.
• Perform routine maintenance.
• Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when identified.
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Crosstrain throughout the shop: understand various builds and product lines.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Must be able to work on a team to meet project objectives in a manufacturing setting and support achievement of these objectives with:

Northstar Steel employees and their families had a great time participating in the 14th Annual Last Chance Ice Fishing Jamboree on the picturesque Moen Chain this past weekend. This enjoyable event brings our team closer together and emphasizes the importance of family and outdoor activities.

Northstar presented prizes for employees and their families who took part. Among the highlights of the event was the "Big Fish" award, which was won by Josh Helgeson for catching a notable Northern!

We also had a great meal at Twin Pines Bar & Grill following the event.

The jamboree provided a relaxed atmosphere for team bonding and friendly competition while allowing everyone to appreciate the beauty of winter. We look forward to many more enjoyable experiences like this in the future!

This month, we proudly mark the founding of Northstar Steel Fabricating Inc. by Peter and Mark Denis in a humble industrial building at 751 Washington St in Rhinelander. Now, 43 years later, we remain family-owned and operated, honoring our commitment to our roots and community.

From those modest beginnings, our journey has been remarkable! We’ve expanded multiple times, growing into a 23-acre campus with over 200,000 square feet of fabricating and assembly space. Our incredible employees, loyal customers, and supportive community have played a vital role in our growth along the way, and we are truly grateful for each of you.

In 2013, we enhanced our capabilities by relocating our main operations to the former Twist Drill building, paving the way for future growth. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility reflects our dedication to innovation and quality in every project. Pictured are our 1000th cab built around 1990 and our 15,000 cab built in 2015. As of today, we have made 18,806 cabs for customers all over the globe.
