The Cook Children's Promise Classic supports children fighting cancer and blood disorders at the Cook Children’s Hematology and Oncology Center. Funds raised through last week’s event help drive treatment advances and critical research, giving patients and their families more of what matters most: time, answers, and hope.

Bryan Boggs, Michael Knapp, and John Tribble were grateful to spend the day supporting that mission alongside Brittany Pressley with SPMT/Cook Children’s.

Thank you to Cook Children’s for bringing people together around a cause that reaches far beyond the golf course, and for the work you do every day for children and families facing cancer and blood disorders.

Congratulations to our own Joe Donarumo on being honored with the 2026 Lean Construction Institute (LCI) Pioneer Award.

For the past 13 years, Joe has been a champion for making Lean practical, approachable, and meaningful for the people doing the work every day. From the jobsite and project teams to LCI leadership, industry education, and The Lean Builder, his commitment to sharing what he’s learned has helped teams work better together and advanced Lean throughout our industry.

As our CEO Keyan Zandy shared, “Joe has an uncommon ability to take Lean principles and make them meaningful to the people actually doing the work.”

We couldn’t be prouder to see Joe’s impact recognized with this well-deserved honor. Congratulations, Joe!

Photos from a finished project are always a pleasure to share…but sometimes, the best way to appreciate where a project ended is to see how it started.

We’re pulling construction photos from our archives and pairing them with the spaces they became. First up: the Children's Health Employee Wellness Center at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Completed in 2024, this award-winning, 2,661-SF retreat was designed to provide a relaxing, restorative space for the hospital staff who spend their days caring for others. At Skiles Group, our people are the foundation of everything we do. Through our Meet the Team series, we’re highlighting the people behind the work—sharing a little about their backgrounds, interests, and personalities beyond the jobsite and office. Next up is our Controller, Kevin McCarty.

Why did you choose the construction industry?
Growing up, my dad was in the construction industry, so it was always something I naturally saw myself pursuing. I enjoyed walking job sites with my dad and hearing all the stories. The industry truly is like nothing else.

What do you like most about working here?
Skiles Group is different. It seems most construction companies today burn through employees like a commodity, whereas Skiles Group truly views our employees as our most valuable assets.

Where is the best place you’ve ever visited?
The Virgin Islands. My wife, Barbara, and I used to love traveling there before Luke was born. From great beaches to some of the most unique bars, such as the Soggy Dollar and W***y T, there is no equal. It is where we got engaged and are now taking Luke back to the islands on a Disney Cruise.

What are your favorite things to do when you’re not working?
Nothing brings me more joy than spending time with my son, Luke, and wife, Barbara. If we are not rushing off to one of Luke’s activities, then we are building forts in the game room or devising our next adventure. Luke always has plans for how his two big buddies can assist him. Whether it’s getting enlisted to wage war with the wasps that build nests on his outdoor playset or fixing one of his toys that didn’t pass his latest durability test, we always have fun as a family.

What are your hobbies?
I have enjoyed riding and racing motorcycles since I was in 7th grade. Today, I ride when the weather is nice and I have a rare break in my schedule. Nothing clears your mind the way it does, and it breaks the mold of the typical Controller demographic.

Our industry does love a clay shoot! And here we are at another one, this time in support of the TEXO Foundation.

While there was plenty of fun and friendly competition, the real reason for the day was an important one. The TEXO Foundation invests in the future of the construction industry through workforce development, education, scholarships, and programs that introduce the next generation to careers in construction.

We’re proud to support the Foundation’s work and the people and initiatives helping to strengthen our industry for the years ahead. Thanks to TEXO, The Construction Association for another great event, and to Jeff Robinson, Justin Davis, Jonathan Collins, and Ryan Pence for representing Skiles Group.
