In 2006, Acme Brick chose DBI to provide masonry work on their national headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 77,000-sq. ft., 3-story building incorporated materials from all of Acme’s 21 different brick plants as well as materials by Acme’s sister companies, including CMU from Featherlite, limestone from Texas Quarries, pavers by Pacific Clay, and a structural glass plank flooring system from I.B.P.

As a showcase for masonry, most walls utilized special coursing or patterning such as projections and recesses, sawtooth patterning, or soldier and header coursing. DBI took great care to lay all masonry units to the tightest tolerances.

The job totaled more than 120,000 sq. ft. of masonry products: 44,000 sq. ft. of interior and exterior brick veneer; 37,000 sq. ft. of CMU; 8,800 sq. ft. of native Texas limestone; 300 sq. ft. of the glass plank self-supporting flooring system; 33,000 sq. ft. of site unit pavers; and multiple examples of artist-carved brick feature panels. All projects were completed over a period of 11 months.

Memorial Day weekend is a nice break from work and a special time to spend with friends and family. But don’t forget the true meaning of Memorial Day. Please take a moment to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed everything for our freedoms.

We would like to remember Dee Brown’s oldest son John Charles “Chuck” Brown, a U.S. Marine in the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion who was killed in Vietnam on November 27, 1968.

If there’s someone you’d like to remember, please leave a comment below.

On July 19, 2025, a 4-alarm fire destroyed the 134-year-old Historic Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas. DBI CEO Rob Barnes III was called the morning of July 20th to evaluate the overall structural integrity of the sanctuary and advise FBC Dallas on what could be salvaged.

“It’s a very complex project,” said Barnes. “DBI will be working with Phoenix 1 on the restorative work and build-back of the wall that had to be taken down due to outward pressures related to the roof collapse. In addition to the restorative masonry DBI has also been contracted by Manhattan Construction for all new masonry, natural stone, cast stone and GFRC work for both exterior and interior packages for the church.”

DBI has already begun work in the basement where the fire started, and is currently removing the existing sandstone base which will be restored and fabricated in our cut stone plant for re-purposing on the reconstruction. Our team is honored to be part of restoring such an iconic structure that has been vital to the fabric of our society for over a century.

Dee Brown Inc worked on the Brown-Lupton building back in 2010. The project was a prominent addition to T.C.U.’s campus and occupies the now complete “Campus Commons”.

The facade blends modern design with collegiate Georgian-style architecture. Elements, including the clock tower, pedestrian portal, and varied arches, add to the uniqueness. Facade construction is largely masonry and utilizes modular brick and varied cast stone elements. CMU was utilized on portions of the exterior walls and for selected interior walls.

Masonry er****on spanned 10 months, with logistic concerns and varying facade elements adding to challenges. All told, the building utilized around 127,000 square feet of brick, cast stone, and CMU
