Back on site helping the crew stage for this StormTech retention build! First time setting up this exact underground system, so we’ve got the manufacturer rep coming out to walk us through the layout and assembly sequence before we dig the bed and drop ’em in.

Part 2 coming next when we start excavation and pipe tie-ins—follow along for the build!

Time to get some sewer tests in.

How to read the wood when setting a storm drain catch basin (SDI #4).

Here is the exact step-by-step breakdown for reading offset, structure identification, and grade calls on the wood:

OFFSET
12 circled at the top means you pull a 12-foot straight offset from the hub to hit your structure alignment point.

STRUCTURE IDENTIFICATION
TBC @ SDI #4 identifies Storm Drain Inlet #4 and ties your elevation reference to Top Back of Curb.

Next up, cut and fill.

F 1.54 TBC means fill 1.54 feet (1 foot 6 and a half inches) up to top back of curb.

C 2.64 CHAMBER BOTTOM means cut 2.64 feet (2 feet 7 and three-quarter inches) down from the hub to set your subgrade for the chamber base.

VERTICAL MATH
Do all your vertical measurements directly off the top of the hub to dig your hole, drop your bedding, and set the precast box.

FINISHED STRUCTURE
Stick around to the end of the video to see the box freshly set on grade and ready for pipe.
