In 1969, Irby completed the first 765 kV transmission line built in the United States, a 31.5-mile line constructed for American Electric Power in Kentucky. In the years that followed, Irby built more than 900 miles of 765 kV line across Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia, ultimately constructing more than 90% of America’s 765 kV grid.

Nearly six decades later, we’re proud to be working with AEP again and continuing a relationship built on trust, quality workmanship, and a shared commitment to strengthening America’s electric infrastructure.

The Salt River Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) project is an Arizona state public electric utility serving the Phoenix metropolitan area.

In January 1994, SRP contracted Irby Construction to build 256 miles of 500kV transmission line between Mead and Phoenix, including 956 towers. The project was successfully delivered to SRP in September 1995.

Irby Construction Company is partnering with the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) on a landmark infrastructure project to raise the transmission lines crossing the St. Johns River at Fulton Cut. This critical upgrade will allow larger vessels to safely access JAXPORT, supporting the continued growth of one of the nation's largest international trade hubs.

We're honored to play a role in delivering the infrastructure that will help power Jacksonville and the region's future.
