LDES (Long-Duration Energy Storage) is any technology that stores energy and dispatches it as power, heat, or cooling from eight hours to days, weeks, or seasons, across four families: electrochemical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical, deployed as grid-scale, co-located, power-to-heat, and behind-the-meter systems. It shows electrochemical durations of 4–100 hours, mechanical (compressed air, liquid air, liquid CO₂, gravity, pumped hydro) from 4 to 100+ hours, and chemical (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol) from 170 to 1,000+ hours.
