⭐ Employee Spotlight: George Hunt
George is one of our Project Managers focused on industrial work, and if there’s one thing to know about him, his day kicks off around 3:30 am, with a stop at the gym first thing.
By 6:30, he’s either in the office or out on a jobsite. When he’s in the office, he’s catching up on emails, updating schedules, and preparing for OAC and subcontractor coordination meetings. He stays in close contact with superintendents, keeps RFIs and submittals moving, and handles everything from writing subcontracts to pushing change orders through.
When he’s on-site, that’s where he really thrives. Walking the job with the superintendent, talking with subcontractors and clients, and making sure everything is moving the way it should. He also leads meetings in the field and stays closely connected with the team.
George got his start in construction at just 16 years old, working with a home builder and learning everything from framing and roofing to masonry and trim work. That hands-on experience stuck with him and set the direction for his career.
He went on to attend Virginia Tech, where he earned a degree in Building Construction. While in school, he worked for a commercial general contractor in Blacksburg and stayed in the industry after graduating, starting as a superintendent before moving into project management.
What project stands out the most?
One of George’s standout projects was a coal ash pond water treatment facility at Dominion’s Bremo Bluff site. His team handled everything from concrete and PEMB to fire protection and interior buildout. The project went smoothly and performed well, which led to another project with a similar scope at Dominion’s Possum Point site, a direct result of the team’s performance.
