This stone entrance column in Ridgefield, Connecticut, took a pretty serious hit after being backed into by a truck.

Rather than simply rebuilding it with new stone, we took the time to carefully dismantle the damaged section down to sound material. Each stone was carefully labeled and documented during the removal process so we could put everything back exactly where it originally belonged.

We then rebuilt the column using the original stone, preserving the existing character, color, texture, and craftsmanship of the entrance.

The goal wasn’t just to repair the damage — it was to make it look like the accident never happened.

This bluestone walkway in Ridgefield, Ct had begun to settle and separate because of the wrong base material and no edge restraint was installed. Rather than simply resetting the stones, we addressed the problem from the ground up.

We excavated approximately 6 inches of soil and sand. We then installed a Belgian block border to properly retain the edges, followed by 4 inches of open-graded base and 1 inch of bedding sand to create a stable foundation.

The original bluestone was still in excellent condition, so we were able to carefully reinstall it, replacing only three stones that were broken. We finished the joints with polymeric joint sand to help lock everything together and provide a clean, durable finish.

The result is a walkway that not only looks great, but is properly built from the base up and designed to last.

We believe the difference is in the details — and in doing the job right the first time. This particular homeowner already hired us to do another project for them because of the quality of our work and how quickly we were able to turn this around for them.

We’re back in Chappaqua, NY, putting the finishing touches on the drainage and final grading for this project.

As an overflow measure for the drainage recharge system we installed last year, we added a 65-foot spreader trench to help safely manage excess water and ensure runoff stays contained within the property rather than flowing onto neighboring properties.

We then completed the final grading and applied annual ryegrass seed to provide quick germination and temporary erosion control while the landscape contractor prepares to install the topsoil.

Proper drainage isn’t just about moving water—it’s about managing it responsibly and protecting the surrounding property.

This homeowner in Redding, CT was dealing with significant water runoff coming down the driveway, carrying dirt and debris and depositing it directly onto the walkway.

We installed a trench drain to capture the majority of the water before it reached the walkway, along with a box drain at the lowest point to direct the water to daylight.

The result? A clean, effective drainage solution that blends seamlessly into the existing landscape. When we finished, there was barely any evidence that we had been there—exactly the way it should be.

Wow! This chimney in Pound Ridge, NY was a complete tear-down and rebuild—and for good reason.

This 27-foot brick chimney was leaning approximately 3 inches away from the home at the top and had developed a major vertical split down the center. During our initial inspection, simply putting our hands on the chimney for stability caused it to sway significantly. Needless to say, this one needed to come down.

But the homeowner had one important request: she didn’t want to lose the charm and character of her existing fireplace.

That created a unique challenge. We carefully dismantled the chimney and exterior masonry surrounding the firebox, taking every precaution to preserve the original fireplace.

Once the chimney was removed, we uncovered an even bigger problem—the existing chimney/fireplace was supported by a footing only about 18 inches deep, nowhere near the frost line, and bearing on non-load-bearing soil.

Before rebuilding, we stabilized the existing firebox and underpinned the structure 48 inches below grade. We installed a reinforced rebar cage, doweled it into the existing structure, and poured approximately 2 cubic yards of new concrete footing to create a proper, solid foundation.

With the foundation properly stabilized, we were able to rebuild the chimney from the ground up—creating a structure designed to meet modern standards and provide the strength and longevity this home deserves.

Projects like this are exactly why we love what we do. It takes experience, careful planning, and craftsmanship to solve problems that aren’t always visible until the work begins.

Recently, we completed this rebuild on a historic 1837 home in Katonah, NY. The mortar had completely failed meaning none of the brick was bonded together any longer and the brick was essentially just stacked on top of one another. We carefully dismantled the chimney down to sound masonry and rebuilt it using modern brick which closely matched the original. Added a flue liner and preserved the original bluestone cap to protect the homes original aesthetic and character.

This was a failing chimney in Redding, CT we discovered by coincidence. I was referred to this client by another contractor for some driveway repairs. When I was done taking measurements for a quote I asked the homeowner if he’d like me to look at anything else while I was there. He had just purchased the home and asked if I could inspect the chimney for him. We walked around the back of the house and from 30’ away I knew he had a big problem. This chimney was very dangerous. Another contractor had installed a faux stone veneer over plywood and roofing felt. A few of the lowest stones had already come off and a couple of stones, not pictured, had come down on the other side. His home inspection completed before this purchase caught none of this!
Once we demo’d the facade we discovered, unsurprisingly, there was major water and ant damage to the structure as well as water reaching the homes framing. After replacing all damaged framing, plywood and treating for ants we applied a waterproofing sealer and installed proper flashing which was missing completely. Then after installing wire lath, we coated the chimney with 2 coats of stucco. In the spring, we will come back to apply a masonry stain for color and a clear penetrating sealer to protect it for many years to come.
