Motion Control – A one Micron resolution linear DC motor driven stage has been released by Moticont. The high performance VCDS-025-038-02-B1-01 linear voice coil stage features high speed, high acceleration/deceleration, zero backlash, smooth motion, precise positioning, high reliability, and low cost. This non-commutated stage is clean room friendly.

This compact motion control Linear Voice Coil (also called a Moving Coil) stage is just 127.0 mm (5.000 in) long by 50.8 mm (2.000 in) wide by 54.0 mm (2.125 in) high. The travel length is 24.6 mm (0.97 in) with a continuous force rating of 4.6 N (1.0 lbs.) and a peak force of 14.4 N (3.2 lbs.) at a 10% duty cycle. This compact voice coil stage is ideal for applications such as: Positioning, assembly, laser cutting, welding and drilling, clamping, medical diagnostics and testing, and wafer handling.

The motion control VCSD-025-038-02-B1-01 Linear Voice Coil stage features an optical quadrature encoder, home switch, and cross roller bearing linear guides. Easily accessible countersunk holes in the base allows for flexible and easy integration into new and existing applications. The 50.4 mm (2.000 in) by 38.3 mm (1.509 in) table has a pattern of 8-32 UNC-2B threaded mounting holes for mounting tooling or fixtures.

Motion Control – The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is a high performance compact positioning system. It was specifically developed for optical applications requiring both high precision and high-speed positioning over a short to medium stroke.

The LFA-1205 is well suited for optical focusing and other micropositioning applications such as scanning interferometry, surface structure analysis, disk drive testing, autofocus systems, confocal microscopy, bio-technology, semiconductor test equipment.

Note that this motor is normally configured with an analog position feedback sensor and can be optionally equipped with a digital quadrature feedback element. The key to this motion control product’s immense success is its novel tubular architecture. This arrangement provides a means to send the optical path directly through the middle of the motor. The moving optic attached to the motors ‘C-mount’ is not cantilevered and so has no torques. The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is directly compatible with the SCA814 Servo Controlled Amplifier.

Motion Control – Rotary Solenoids Matched to An Application Are Available in OEM Quantities!

The R-09-150 CWN Series of Clockwise, Reverse Shaft Extension Rotary Solenoids from Magnetic Sensor Systems (MSS), available in OEM quantities, features 18 different winding configurations allowing the user to match torque and duty cycle requirements to an application.

These compact 38.1 mm (1.50 in.) diameter motion control solenoids are just 22.1 mm (0.87 in.) long and have two M4X0.7 threaded studs (8-32 studs optional) 7.4 mm (0.29 in.) long on a 22.2 mm (0.875 in.) bolt circle. The reverse shaft has 40 degrees of clockwise rotation, extending 13.0 mm (0.51 in.). Shaft end is serrated for better grip of the attached load.

The R-09-150 CCWM Series of Rotary Solenoids can be specified with a choice of AWG winding of 21 to 37 gauge. Specifying a different AWG for the windings allows the user to control the performance of a solenoid with respect to duty cycle, current supplied, and torque by controlling the ampere turns. As an example: Starting torque of a solenoid at 9 w, 100% duty cycle, is 3.0 oz-in. (0.021 Nm) and start torque of a solenoid at 90 w, 10% duty cycle is 21 oz-in. 0.15 Nm). When voltage is removed, a built-in return spring returns the shaft to the home position.

All MSS electromagnets use materials that quickly lose residual magnetism when the current is removed. The E-05-125 Series has a 10-32 UNC-2B threaded mounting hole on the backside for easy integration into new and existing applications.

The shaft is supported by two high precision radial ball bearings with no axial movement.
