Happy pride month from Oya Construction 🏳️‍🌈

We're proud to be queer-owned and operated– not because it's a marketing angle, but because it's part of who we are.

Construction is stronger when more people can see themselves in it. More perspectives. More voices. More seats at the table.

This month, we're celebrating the communities that have made space for us and continuing to build spaces where others can belong, too.

Growing up, most of us didn’t see women, especially not women like us, on job sites, leading crews, or making the calls. That absence matters.

Because if you can’t see it, it’s a lot harder to believe it’s yours just as much as it’s theirs.

Representation in the construction field is about access, visibility, and rewriting who gets to take up space in this industry.

So when young girls see women on site, in charge, building real systems that shape their communities, or just in line at a sandwich shop on their lunch break–it shifts something

It says: “you belong here too”

And that’s how the industry actually changes. THAT is why we will always keep doing what we are doing.

Happy 1-Year Oya-versary, Danielle!

One year ago this week, Danielle joined Oya and immediately elevated everything around her. Her depth of knowledge in government stormwater work and her engineering expertise have strengthened our projects, sharpened our thinking, and raised the bar for how we approach complex work.

Over the past year, Danielle has been a steady presence—bringing clarity to challenging problems, mentoring through example, and reminding us that experience matters. Her perspective has made our team stronger and our work better.

We’re incredibly grateful she chose to spend the last year with Oya, and we’re excited for what we’ll continue to build together.
