Here's a fun one! We got a call to make this precision rolling workbench for our friends over at Atlantic Piping. The purpose of this bench is to house a precision piece of pipe welding equipment, all the associated tooling and bottles of welding gas at the end, and look good doing it! We designed the frame around these two red toolboxes and now we want one of these in every corner of the shop!

A lot of the metal sculptures and art pieces we do these days are quite large, however, there is something so satisfying about making a plaque or award at desktop scale. We got to make this award for one of the outgoing employees at Commercial Glass in Lynchburg, friends of the program!
The base is made from a piece of oak salvaged from an old pallet and the stainless elements were CNC cut in house, polished and laser engraved. Clear coated and completed with felt feet, congratulations Rodney!

We got to see a genuine Steve Bickley piece in Richmond last month. It reaches floor to ceiling on a wall in one of the lounge areas of the Costar campus. What a fun piece! Made from CNC cut aluminum and hand painted.

If you live in the Roanoke area, (or probably any other city for that matter), you've undoubtedly seen these fabricated metal benches out in the wild. Well, we have some issues with most of them. They're uncomfortable, they have sharp edges, they all look the same and the ergonomics are all wrong.
SO, when the folks over in and came to us for a custom bench to commemorate the installation of a new historical marker along the famous USBR76 bike route that winds through Virginia, we took it as our opportunity to show the world how Lift Arc Studios would build a bench! really outdid himself on the design this time.
With a rolled seat, properly tilted back rest, curved arm rests and the perfect height, we are awful proud of how this bench came out! We also layered the back rest with a red powder coated accent panel to bring out the detail in the Virginia map and capped each end with custom polished and engraved brass plaques to suit the benches purpose.

We fabricated this "bear clamp" for a local pipe welding shop out of some of the thickest stainless we've ever cut on our CNC plasma cutter. The purpose of the clamp is to go around an 18" stainless pipe and hold it perfectly round when a fl**ge is to be welded on the end. We turned our Invertig 251 up to 11 and walked the cup all the way home!
Never know what projects are going to come through the shop!

A little while ago, we had the opportunity to build some rather unique metal frames to hold and display some very cool laminated printed glass panels for a public art project in NC. There are only a few companies in the country that can print images on the center layer of laminated safety glass so to build the frames that would hold, protect and display these unique pieces was no small feat!
We fabricated these frames with removable stops so the glass could be installed after worked their magic with the finish, which came out great! The panels have not yet been installed in their final location, but we will share when that happens!

We had the immense pleasure to solve this heavy physics problem for and with some amazing folks. This sculpture came to our shop fully built, FIVE 1250lb solid steel rings welded and pinned together in a specific arrangement. Our task was to separate the sculpture into its individual pieces in order to re-install it on a custom base we fabricated in the shop in the middle of this awe-striking courtyard. With the help of our friends over at .inc and our welder turned up to 11, it all went together flawlessly and is now permanently installed in its new home! Even though we didnt build this sculpture ourselves, it still feels good to do our part to refresh and preserve large scale metal sculpture work. Onto the next one!
