Today we're celebrating one of our area's eclipse leaders, Dana St. Aubin from Monroe County Office of Emergency Management, with a hand-delivery of The Eclipse Effect. Dana's efforts are detailed in Chapter 6 ("Get Started: The Nuts and Bolts of Community Creation"); her careful coordination of the Monroe County & City of Rochester meetings for many months resulted in a level of intra-government cooperation unseen in other parts of the country, but which has characterized our region for the past several years. (Dana and Deb are pictured below in the Emergency Operations Center.)

Here's a lovely article by Jamie Carter in Forbes about three new eclipse documentaries, two of them focused on Rochester. One, "In Totality" that has its debut at NYC's Rooftop Films festival on Friday, one about the Houlton, Maine Eclipse that was released last week, and the last has an update on "Totality," which was shot here and 21 other communities during the year leading up to April 8, 2024.

New films screening this week are putting the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, back in the spotlight, with compelling human stories about the "eclipse effect."

Rochester eclipse enthusiasts should head to the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester before May 25 to see the Composing Color exhibit of paintings by Alma Thomas…. Particularly her work “The Eclipse 1970.”
