The air inside our buildings directly impacts occupant health, comfort, productivity, and energy performance. As Engineers, Contractors, Facility Teams, Manufacturers, Owners, and Design Professionals, we play a critical role in creating healthier indoor environments.
✅ Optimize ventilation rates
✅ Verify filtration performance (MERV and HEPA where appropriate)
✅ Monitor CO₂, humidity, and airborne contaminants
✅ Maintain and commission HVAC systems regularly
✅ Design for both energy efficiency and occupant wellness
With people spending nearly 90% of their time indoors, investing in IAQ is no longer just a building operation concern. It is a business, health, and sustainability priority. 🔋 October 7th is ASHRAE Energy Efficiency Day! 🔋
Today, we recognize ASHRAE Energy Efficiency Day and reaffirm the importance of energy efficiency as a cornerstone of sustainable, resilient, and high-performing communities. Energy efficiency is one of the most practical and cost-effective strategies for reducing energy consumption, lowering operating costs, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing building performance. The decisions we make today in the design, operation, and maintenance of our buildings have a lasting impact on both our environment and our communities.

The ASHRAE Rochester Chapter commends the City of Rochester, NY and Monroe County for their continued leadership and commitment to advancing energy-efficient and sustainable practices throughout the region. Through thoughtful planning, strategic investments, and collaborative partnerships, they are helping create healthier buildings, strengthen energy resilience, and support long-term environmental stewardship.

We work in a dynamic and challenging industry where innovation is constant and solutions are critical.
