On Wednesday, August 19, Grunley was proud to volunteer with Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) for its annual Pups at the Pitch event with D.C. United! The event supports BVSPCA's mission to connect adoptable dogs with loving homes.

Before the dogs took the spotlight at Audi Field, our volunteers spent time at the shelter helping prepare participating pups for their big day by making treats, giving baths, and providing plenty of cuddles. Afterwards, our team reunited with the pups at the field to watch D.C. United take on the New England Revolution.

Thank you to all of Grunley's volunteers and to BVSPCA for the opportunity to be part of such a paws-itive cause!

Grunley is pleased to share that our Milken Institute Center for Advancing the American Dream, Phase 2 project has been honored with the ENR MidAtlantic 2026 Regional Best Project Award in the Renovation/Restoration category.

ENR’s annual competition is dedicated to recognizing outstanding construction achievements and the teams behind them. Entries are evaluated by two panels of industry judges on factors including the teams’ ability to overcome challenges, contribute to industry innovation and best practices, promote safety, make a positive community impact, and deliver excellence in construction and design quality. We are honored to receive this distinct recognition from ENR.

Grunley is proud to celebrate the completion of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) South Administration Building, Wing 7 project, a major renovation that modernized nearly 125,000 SF within one of Washington, D.C.'s most historic federal landmarks. The $119.5 million project, completed in June 2026, successfully modernized this historic facility while preserving its defining architectural features, positioning the landmark to support its mission for decades to come.

From project site tours and professional development opportunities to a hiking adventure and a monuments tour, our interns discovered firsthand what makes Grunley’s internship experience unique. Along the way, they gained valuable industry knowledge, built meaningful relationships, and contributed to projects that shape our communities.

Tonight, we were proud to host them at our 25th Annual Emerging Leaders Dinner, where early-career professionals and senior leadership came together to share experiences, build connections, and discuss the future of our industry.

Wednesday, April 8, 2026 marked a full circle moment for Grunley’s Community Service Peer Group. What began as a creative team challenge and a day of friendly competition amongst colleagues reached its most meaningful milestone with the delivery of a handcrafted playhouse to a child through Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

Back in November 2025, three Grunley teams gathered for a Habitat for Humanity Playhouse Build Competition, knowing that each playhouse would go on to serve a greater purpose—two benefiting local families through Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia, and one fulfilling a sick child’s request through Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. From sketches and paint samples to sawdust and final details, the build day was filled with energy, creativity, and collaboration. Each team approached it differently, but the intent to build something fun, durable, and worthy of a child’s attention was universally shared by all.

In the end, the structure itself is simple—wood, paint, and hardware. But in its final home, it becomes so much more—a place to play, imagine, and just be a kid, despite ongoing health challenges. This story is one that reminds us that what we build truly does matter - our work impacts communities and lives in ways we may never witness ourselves. And this is the power of construction Built with Heart.
