The latest customer pub out of our Olink lab: scientists investigated age-related mechanisms causing susceptibility to postoperative complications. Older mice exhibited activation of stress- and metabolism-associated pathways, paired with suppression of structural maintenance programs. These results point to an under-explored window of risk stratification and preventative intervention that could be applied to patient care.

This week in RNA research: Psomagen customers applied a machine-learning tool (Mind.Px) to predict patient response to biologics used in treating psoriasis. A dermal biomarker patch was applied to the affected arm of over 200 patients, and Psomagen provided RNA sequencing on extracted cDNA.

The study found that physicians with access to http://Mind.Px changed their prescribing behavior significantly. Additionally, more patients whose physicians followed the http://Mind.Px results reached a clinical endpoint by weeks 4 and 12 versus those in treatment-as-usual group. These results are a promising signal that predictive models could be a successful alternative to trial-by-error treatment.
