Women in Construction Week is important to HESS, not just as a celebration, but as a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much opportunity still exists in this industry.
Started in 1998 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Women in Construction Week shines a spotlight on the impact women have made, and continue to make, across every sector of construction. NAWIC itself was founded in 1953 by 16 women in Fort Worth, Texas, who were seeking a support network in the male-dominated construction industry and believed women deserved a stronger voice and greater opportunities. Today, that mission is still driving progress nationwide.
The 2026 Women in Construction Week theme, “Level Up. Build Strong.”, emphasizes the importance of intentional action to advance the industry, strengthen teams, and support continued growth.
Construction is stronger when it reflects the communities we build for. Representation matters. Mentorship matters. Visibility matters.
We are proud to work in an industry where more women are stepping into leadership roles, on jobsites, in offices, and in the field, proving every day that there’s space for women here. Even more rewarding is helping encourage the next generation of women to see construction as a powerful, rewarding career path.
Here’s to continuing to build, not just structures, but opportunities that support diversity and inclusion.
